Create a journey using Value First WhatsApp Activity

This section provides an example of creating a journey with an WhatsApp Activity. To begin:

  1. Log in to Salesforce Marketing Cloud and go to Journey Builder.
  2. Create a new journey.
  3. Choose whether to build a multi-step journey with Data Extension or Salesforce Data as the entry point.
  4. Select the data extension specifically created for this journey.
  5. Select schedule type.
    • When you select Run Once, Journey Builder evaluates contacts on activation or at the specified date and time.
    • When you select Recurring, enter a start date when contacts enter the journey, how frequently contacts are evaluated for admission, and how many times they’re evaluated.
  6. Drag and Drop Send VF WhatsApp value first WhatsApp activity in the journey.
  7. Fill out the following information:
    • MID – Find your MID at the top right corner of the SFMC.
    • Select Message Action – Choose New Message to send New WhatsApp Message.
    • From Number – This display from number to send WhatsApp Message.
    • Select Phone Number Field – Choose Phone field from the selected data extension.
    • Select Template – Select WhatsApp Message Template.
    • Document URL – This field indicates whether the template includes a HEADER. Please enter the public document URL.
    • Audio URL – This field indicates whether the template includes a HEADER. Please enter the public audio URL.
    • Video URL – This field indicates whether the template includes a HEADER. Please enter the public video URL.
    • Image URL – This field indicates whether the template includes a HEADER. Please enter the public image URL.
  8. Select merge fields if the header/body/button contains them.
  9. Click on the button “Done”

Create a Journey for Retry WhatsApp

  1. Log in to Salesforce Marketing Cloud and go to Journey Builder.
  2. Create a new journey.
  3. Choose whether to build a multi-step journey with Data Extension or Salesforce Data as the entry point.
  4. Select the WhatsApp Delivery Report data extension.
  5. Select schedule type.
    • When you select Run Once, Journey Builder evaluates contacts on activation or at the specified date and time.
    • When you select Recurring, enter a start date when contacts enter the journey, how frequently contacts are evaluated for admission, and how many times they’re evaluated.
  6. Drag and Drop the Decision element and set the condition to check if the status equals Failed. Same as SMS.
  7. Drag and Drop Send VF WhatsApp value first WhatsApp activity in the journey.
  8. Fill out the following information:
    • MID – Find your MID at the top right corner of the SFMC.
    • Select Message Action – Choose Retry Message to send retry WhatsApp Message.
  9. Click on the button “Done”
